Planting Your Seed

Activity

·         Student will plant a seed and observe it’s growth patterns.  Each student will have a decorated flowerpot, soil, and fast-growing flower seeds.  The students will view a video on planting seeds and then plant their seeds.  They will observe and record their plant’s growth over a period of six-weeks.   Designate a day in each week that students will measure and record their plant’s growth.  They will measure using yarn , cut the yarn according to the size, and glue to the graph.  Later, students can use a ruler and measure their plant’s growth in inches or centimeters.

Student Evaluation

·         Students will have a completed chart of their plants growth over a period of six weeks.  At the end of the sixth week students will have their individual picture taken with their plant and take home their flower to their mother for a Mother’s Day gift.
