Tidehaven ISD Summary of Meeting The open forum was held in the Tidehaven High School Cafeteria. There were 18 members and 2 guests present. Mr. Jones began the meeting at 6:45 p.m. by having the members divide into four groups and go to the four campuses for a tour to gather input from available faculty and view the conditions. Upon the return from the campuses, the meeting proceeded. Mr. Jones gave a quick review of the two previous meetings and then the committee began a brainstorming session on the perceived strengths and weaknesses that each member observed or discussed with the staff members they visited with on the four campuses. After a lengthy discussion about these concerns, the committee discussed the need to bring in experts to provide information on the structural conditions of the existing buildings and the cost to adequately repair those buildings. Members also discussed the possibility of seeking the advice of an architect should the committee want to consider the cost of constructing of a new facility(ies). Mr. Jones discussed with the committee the need to review, in more detail, the future budgetary/tax rate considerations, Tidehaven ISD’s financial information and tax rate information at the next meeting. Mr. Jones asked for any closing comments and the committee members suggested that we continue to meet during the summer. Committee members chose June 21, 2007 for the next meeting, which will take place in the Tidehaven High School cafeteria at 6:45 p.m. The meeting adjourned at approximately 9:00 p.m. May 22, 2007 Agenda (pdf)
