Ladies Auxiliary Makes Donation to Blessing PTC
Blessing Elementary kindergarten students worked very hard picking up trash at the park in Blessing on Earth Day. Students learned how important it is to keep our environment clean.
Kindergarten students have been learning many new things about how some animals handle the cold winter months. They learned how animals migrate, camouflage themselves, and hibernate. At the end of their studies, the students had a hibernation party in which they were allowed to bring one hibernating animal, a pillow, and a flashlight to hibernate with.
Kindergarten students observed the shadow of the groundhog throughout the day on February 2.
The kindergarten classes celebrated the 100th day of school in style by graphing 100 items, wearing their 100 day masks, and eating 100 day cupcakes.
The tooth fairy came to visit Blessing Elementary kindergarten and first grade classes. She taught them good brushing habits and ways to keep our teeth healthy.
Third graders in Mrs. Blanchette's room created their own globes to help them become aware of what a small world we live in.
Students in Mrs. Finch's fourth and fifth grade math classes used repeated patterns, or tessellations, to decorate their book cover.
Several community helpers came to the kindergarten class to talk to the children about their jobs.

Mrs. Tupa's fifth grade science classes made weather instruments as they learned about the weather. The students were split into five groups and each group made a project. Group one made an anemometer that measures wind speed. Group two made a rain gauge that measures the amount of rain. Group three made a hygrometer that measures the amount of humidity. Group four made a barometer that measures the amount of air pressure. Group five made a wind vane that shows the direction of the wind. They all had a great time and learned a lot about weather.

Blessing Elementary students in Mrs. Shawn Tupa's science classes kept a close eye on Hurricane Ike. They tracked the hurricane's course as it approached the Texas Gulf Coast.
The kindergarten classes at Blessing Elementary are enjoying using the new interactive Smartboard in the computer lab.
The American Legion Cecil Lee Unit 649 Ladies Auxiliary of Blessing, Texas, donated $100 to the Blessing Elementary PTC organization. This money will go towards helping out with the Blessing Elementary Christmas program and dinner that will be held on Monday, December 15. The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary helps out and supports many activities in the Tidehaven School District. Giving and receiving the donation are President B. Wetherbee, Secretary T. Greer, PTC President M. Calhoun, and Principal K. Marceaux.
